i wonder what the hell these do? seller didn't know

also wondrin what else is need to make this 'go' can measure down to like .00000001 cm with these things...

if i only had more space-time, ha, for collecting and playing with junk .

oops, sorry about that accidently posted about 10 iterations of todays post -shows how many times i go back an re-edit posts.

Posted last few days photos . Couple that I like are a nice 'creamy' water-laser refraction next to a pyrex dish and the rock chip in the window. Id like to do a little macro study on rock chips some time really complex energy dissipations structures. I think i did the creamy laser with a slightly longer exposure with my xt vs the other pics that I posted earlier which were hdv screen caps.

may just kick around apartment this morning.   been slowly setting my workshop/lab space.  I was hoping to have my electronics protyping do-hingy by now but the seller appartently sent it to the wrong address (ie forgot) and just got it back yesterday (found in in the backroom collecting dust).

In the full 'instrument setup' ill have some computers on the right, parallel port out to the prototyping box (it has parallel in and out which feed into and out of the breadboard) and the parallel cable down to my vibration isolated 'optical table' (old xerox color copier laser scan module) for laser power supply, crystal and positioning modulation etc..  The first project will probably be hooking up my two galvanometers to l/r audio input for playing with using deiferent frequences or music to modulate the laser scan across a projection screen.

HEY! GUESTBOOK AND COMMENTS turned back on for anonamous visitors... That was pretty easy. I've been having problems with the web bots spiders posting in the comments section and guestbook.

Added something called a 'captcha' module. Drupal has the nice module system when any new functionality is needed just write a php 'module' drop it modules directory and it shows up in the appropriate menu. Pretty dam slick (can that be added as a feature for space?...modules... mark that would be so sweet)

This implementation of captcha is quite crude but I would be supprised if it did not work. it asks all form submitters to answer and easy math question. 2+2 7+10 etc.

Found an interesting (to me) math book: Geometric Theory of Dynamics Systems. Palis. qa614.p2813. 1980.  I knew it was up my alley when I flipped through the pages and there were lots of diagrams and figures -i don't even bother anymore with the math books that are just page after page of equations.

Any way what brought me to head over to the math library in the first place was that i was looking into 'ergodic theory' just learning about it myself by i think in may be very very valuable for some of things that i want to do like characterizing biological system phases-spaces and attractors.

been thinking and playing with closed eye visuals. There is a lot to 'see' when you close your eyes, but its weird. Today I was lying on the floor eyes closed, and was seeing what appeared to be faint holographic images of peopls heads/faces. One of the weird thing I've noticed about the close-eye visuals is that they tend to avoid being 'looked at' directly. Another weird thing that I've never really noticed befor is that I got some kind of weird mental imagry when I tried to use by normal eye functions for focusing on something a few feet away, but did that with my eyes closed, there seemed to coalesce of some kind of light contrasting dyanmic structure, appeared to be either rotating or 'bubling', maybe there was green there. It was kind of like a combinations of this and this . Its so hard to describe them and looking at them is like trying to balance a marble on a bowling ball, after three beers.

hey this ain't a bad deal for $0.01 (plus 9.99 shipping...)

i figure I can either replace my relic 400mhz with this 500mhz relico r take the heat gun to it and harvest all the nice little electronic stuff.  I've also wanted to pull apart a pentium processor wonder how in the hell you do that they seem like they cast in steel.   put it under the scope.

wow got all excited 52 entries in my guest book -turns out to be them dam spiders/bot/whatever -they were all ads for online pharmaceuticals etc crap. Is nothing sacred. Now the guest book. Its interesting the timing of the 'attacks'. I think there is a drupal add on the makes people entering forms type in those wavy numbers/letters -captcha - that are kind of a graphic to prove that they are humans and not some bot will look into adding that for guestbook and maybe opening back up comments to unreg users. maybe i will make an enzymind-bot that goes after other bots.

thinking about changing the 'visualization' component of the enzymind trisection back to 'art'...just thinking about the photos on the site...theyre not really 'visualization'...and i forgot that one of things that i want to acomplish here is to cross some boundaries...hmm.  Also i think 'art' provides a better yin to the yang of science.  I think why I had orginally started with that was that when I work i tend to oscillate between logic/rigor and associative randomness.  I was getting bored and burnt just doing science as a separate entity..with enzymind kinda trying to make my day to day goings on sort part of all the things that im interested in rather than segregate them to specific times or places...as you may have noticed...

posted my last few days photos.  some nice ones in there if i may say so myself.

re: laser refraction.  I think to get at what I really want to see I'm going to have to set up a little water spigot and a nice smooth projection screem -maybe also a laser holder (other than my hand).  Its pretty interesting just to watch the dynamics of the pattern at a single flow rate -the aerated actually is quite interesting in its own right.  Yep just left camera on auto -i made those images by doing screen caps of the footage playing back.  lots of reflections and messyness. that shadow is the outflow of the faucet since the output of the laser has some diffuse nondirectional output and then the laser light which passed through the stream got superimposed on that...again, kind of interesting in its own right.  Makes me want to try other liquids (no not no-1...).  Its iteresting when I shine the laser into the turbulence that occours in the basin of the sink that the back scattering causing a asychronous strobe effect that shows the pattern of water frozen in space.   That laser is just a baby compared to some of the stuff im brewing... my big big green laser project (aka 'zeuses laserpointer') is gonna be around 3-5 watts.  (the one shown is 5mW) now you see why i keep reminding myself not to blind myself (or electrocute myself)  got some laser goggles for the different wavelengths that I'm going to be working with...

hmm wonder if i can use these to make some kind of display  -maybe use white leds or triplet sets of rgb leds...

greg its handy that you registered and made an album. helped me trouble shoot a little booboo in the set up on my part. I had left a comment for your penguin this morning but for some reason it wasn't showing up. I think I had set each folder slightly differently at some point, so I went to the highest level folder changed configuration and the checked the little 'apply to all subfolders' radio button and voila now i think i got that little glitch out -now I just gotta fix the 10^6 other doodads and booboos that are wrong with the site.
