I have worried about how to back up all the material I've put on Enzymind (this site). It is slow and unwieldy to copy each page and the associated material. For some of my project pages I have made mirror pages on another server, but these are never in sync or contain all the text, particularly notes, that I use Enymind for regularly.
These are short proposals for experiments:
What is the perception of a stereo pair if the disparities of a semi-natural image are smoothly changed, such that the stereoscopic depth of every feature is reversed, with far things becoming near and near things far?
A primatologist (SUNY?, I lost his name and address) sent an interesting photo of a dissected tarsier brain and eye. He was looking for a comparable image of human vision hardware. I am working on animations of various brain systems, so I put together of rendering of roughly the same parts:
A set of links related to commonly percieved patterns that are different from visual stimulus patterns, and how they might be related to cortical implementation of human vision.
"...we try to make predictions about Nature, to anticipate what we’ll see in places we have not yet looked. If additional observations corroborate our expectations, then we’re on the right track. Several skill sets are involved: one must know how to idealize the world, and then how to work with that idealization.
