Peter.  I don't have access to various parts of enzymind.  I tried to look at your rough draft and that video I made a couple weeks ago.  I didn't have permission to view either.  Any thoughts?  Cheers

Tribute to bugit, made with Matlab instead of being responsible.

Jon Stewart is funny.  Here he talks about technology.

fond hello Enzyminders.  Those were neat creativity equalities....it's fun to pick three words with some wisp of similarity in your mind, place them impulsively alongside operators without further thought.  Here are six unedited.

log(acceptance) = fear + purpose

Science + patience = bomb

Plucky = perfumed + pompous

Originality / power = fanaticism

Cooperation = division * fortitude

Visualization = creativity / angst

Amazing what fitting the brain can perform on these post priori.  The fitting always concerns me....something to turn off occasionally if possible.  What is more creative, unedited impulsive or edited and polished writing.

Start your pattern recognition centers.  My favorite, naturally, is the Y Chromosome....thought it might strike a chord with enzyminders.

big cumulative biochem test. Done! It's great reading through the past ten blogs....hard to keep up with you guys.

Played around with logarithmic spirals in Matlab. For awhile, tried a little mind exercise....applying tangible physical object manipulation to basic math (it was a failed attempt to build up a deeper understanding of ln and euler's number).

My current goal is to learn cool implementations of image segmentation. Scale-space, energy minimization, higher dim. curve propagating for starters.

Mark, is there any documentation of ScaleSpace before I begin pouring over your code?

Generative Creation.

An interesting talk given by Brian Eno (music) Will Wright (cellular automata, Sim City video game)

Statistical Significance and Importance

Going over basic statistics again. Reading up on which statistic tests to use, it's always neat to read how unresolved this issue is. Also kinda cool to look at a chaotic interface between human qualities such as "importance" and math. Purity and informative seem often at odds. Could drive up the N to make enzymind the latest proven weight-loss program (p < 0.05)

An interesting video on insect Cordyceps fungal parasites. Scarier than any humanoid thriller. Went on the Portland tram today for the first time. A new view of Portland. The cars are counter-weighted and travel at a pretty good pace. S'Funny hopping (initially misspelled "hoping" .... fitting) on board a potentially deadly ride in early construction with the electric work still exposed.

Memory

Greetings....been too long....

  Perhaps it's the natural returning student lot to feel like a lot of study time is wasteful.  Learning in high volume in a temporary way motivated solely by the faith that it comes back faster or at all down the road due to some spark.  Sometimes doubtful.  Too much information.  Been thinking about computer-assisted ways to combine studying for short and long term goals, temporary basic comprehension (cough test grade cough) and insurance of future utility (student raison d'etre).  This comes after experimenting with short term study approaches including: exclusive reading / mental strain, flash cards, Wiki notes, Google Spreadsheets / Word, image-based.  Settled on memory queues / key words with page numbers to the notes.  Works allright, not too time-consuming but generally enough energy to make the spark.  Maybe typing this into a sophisticated database would add long term potential and avoid duplication of effort.  Reinvigorate old synapses rather than defer to Wikipedia in order to create new ones.  Does this make any sense.
