That's one of my favorites too, I want it on a T-shirt.

I got around to partially documenting the origins of this tile, but things are still disconnected a bit. It's cool to think about how many nice patterns come out of these systems, I'm just picking some low hanging fruit.

I wrote a similar backstory for Pa, relating it to the Zia sun symbol. I showed my mother one of my animated tilings that uses "Ansel star". She looked a bit worried and her first remark was about how it looked like swastikas. I think the only way to bury these bad associations with beautiful symbols and patterns is by appropriation -- use them in other contexts as much as possible. But I don't think Sunny Delight is going to use it as a logo anytime soon!
