how to enzymind

Please register to access additional content such as collaborative research projects. Unregistered users are welcome to browse the gallery, read website text, and post comments.

New users are welcome to join or alternatively I can be emailed with any questions regarding this site: psr5000@gmail.com. Some guidelines for participation are to either have some images or other art that you wish to understand from a scientific or mathematical perspective or alternatively to develop the aesthetic aspects of a mathematic or scientific question. The tools for organizing and developing projects on enzymind are as of February 2007 not well developed. A good place to begin is to start a blog post with your project idea or submit comments and suggestions regarding other peoples work.

Some tips on posting images and movies for unregistered and registered users:

1.) Unregistered users:

Currently unregistered users can post comments, images and video clips.
To post an image in a comment:
Select the insert image icon in the text editor (it looks like a picture of a tree). This will open a dialog box. Click the file browser button in the top right corner and navigate to and upload your image. Before closing the file browser you must select the image from the list of uploaded files and click 'add'.
To post a video clip:
Currently only flash .swf videos of 2mb or less can be posted in comments. To convert your video from avi or other formats to .swf use a free video transcoder such as cinemaforge. To insert the video into a comment, select the Flash button on the text editor (it looks like an 'f' with a circle around it). Use the same file browser method that is used for images. Before inserting the .swf you must specify the movie dimensions since the default size is zero.
An example of what images and videos inserted into a comment look like can be seen here.
To create an 'image' node.
By creating a node rather than posting a comment, the image will be displayed in the enzymind galleries and appear randomly in the side bars with the other users content. Go to Content->create content->image. Please add text to describe the image.

2.) Registered users

There are many more options for posting and using content as a registered user.
Enzymind is based on a pretty fancy content management system called drupal which allows for a wide range of content types. Some examples are:
Audio
An audio file. The audio file could be used for adding music, podcasts, or audio clips to your site.
Blog entry
A blog is a regularly updated journal or diary made up of individual posts shown in reversed chronological order. Each member of the site may create and maintain a blog.
Book page
A book page is a collaborative writing effort: users can collaborate writing the pages of the book, positioning the pages in the right order, and reviewing or modifying pages previously written. So when you have some information to share or when you read a page of the book and you didn't like it, or if you think a certain page could have been written better, you can do something about it.
Book review
The bookreview module allows a site to publish book reviews.
Case
Open a new case assigned to a particular project.
Project
Create a basic project for use with Case Tracker.
Category
Categories are used to structure your site, and to categorize content. You can create a category as the child of a container, or of another category. You can assign content to one or more categories.
Container
A container is usually the root of a category tree, but can also be created as the child of another container, or of a category. Containers are used for describing a particular way of classifying content.
Chat room
A chat room provides access to chats and chat archives.
Forum topic
Create a new topic for discussion in the forums.
Image
An image (with thumbnail). This is ideal for publishing photographs or screenshots.
Page
If you want to add a static page, like a contact page or an about page, use a page.
Poll
A poll is a multiple-choice question which visitors can vote on.
Project
A project is something a group is working on. It can optionally have issue tracking, integration with revision control systems, releases, and so on.
Project release
A release of a project with a specific version number. You can only create these for projects you maintain, using the links on the project home pages or the My projects page
Story
Stories are articles in their simplest form: they have a title, a teaser and a body, but can be extended by other modules. The teaser is part of the body too. Stories may be used as a personal blog or for news articles.
Todo List
A todo list.
Userlink
Enables storing and retrieving of userlinks (or bookmarks).
Video
Allow a variety of video formats to be posted as nodes in your site.
