Metaphor

Vernor Vinge posted his book "Rainbow's End". I read the first three chapters this morning, and like it enough to read it all the way through. I know of a lot of his futurist ideas, but have never read more than bits and pieces of his stories and books. Anyone interested in biotechnology, communication devices, and distopias will enjoy it. In the third chapter there's a bit about creativity that I think will be woven into the arc of the story.

I'm doing some more music today. Working on learning the first three etudes of Heitor Villa-Lobos. Villa-Lobos has some similarities to Bach in that his music I consider to be very geometrical.

I am doing some music today. I'm working on learning Bach's 2nd Lute suite (Primarily the Prelude and Fugue for guitar). The suite is a long time favorite due to its clear but still intricate lines. I consider Bach to be a form of proto-neurolinguistic mathematician (?).

An interesting photography method: Kirlian photography.

There is a nice sequence on the topic in this older, but well done, national geographic video:

Fantastic 1974 interview video of 'bucky' fuller discussing a broad range of topics from 'Comprehensive Anticipatory Design Science' to essentially a description of the fuure internet and use of such 'two-way television' for the 'structuring of knoweldge', 8). While BF can be a little bit rambling and shambly, his vision and genius is pretty evident.

I'm thinking about starting a writing project based around using fractal software like apophysis as 'system' or model for thinking about multidisciplinary computational creativity. There was some interest on the apophysis mailing list in creating documentation for IFS math and the fractal flame algorithm that would be more easy to understand and I thought it might be fun to extend the math theory into the full spectrum of relevant topics. I think presenting the topic like this might be particularly relevant to the current Enzymind proposal. This is a rough outline:

Trying out yet another logo. I like this one for a number of reasons which I may enumerate and pontificate on sometime.

I've been thinking about a metaphor for the mind that involves mapping the relationship between the ecology of fungi and plants to the relationship between the mind and the brain, respectively.

The general ideas is that there are superficial structural analogies as well as deeper biological connectivity implications, especially if you believe as I do that there are universalities in the connectedness of biological systems.

I added topic tags for complexity, metphor and community. When creating new content, mulitple terms in a vocabulary can be selected -but I wish that could be done without using the control key...
